Nominations for GWALA Cohort 5 set to open in early May 2024!

Watch for an announcement or check back in May to access nomination forms.

Beginning in early May we will welcome nominations and self-nominations for this yearlong, cohort-based program designed to foster engaged and experienced faculty leaders across the University. To be eligible for GWALA, candidates must have been with GW for one or more years and be full-time employees. The ideal candidate is already leading a lab, a department, academic unit, or team, or has aspirations to take on an administrative leadership role. GWALA welcomes individuals from all academic units across the university.  If you have questions about eligibility, please contact the program facilitator, Sara Melita.

GWALA Program Highlights

Fellows engage in a series of sessions to build key competencies. The schedule is as follows:

  1. Setting Leadership Intentions 
  2. Effective Communication 
  3. Quality Decision Making 
  4. Staff Engagement 
  5. Conflict Management 
  6. Emotional Intelligence 
  7. Faculty Development 
  8. Graduation Event    

* Typically 9:00am - 12:30pm

The program also offers additional leadership development opportunities including:

  1. Insightful Dialogues: Engage with a diverse array of GW’s senior leaders through interactive sessions that provide valuable perspectives and guidance.
  2. Project Mentorship: Benefit from both individual and group mentoring on your projects to refine your approach and achieve better outcomes.
  3. Campus-Wide Networking: Expand your professional network by connecting with colleagues from various departments across the campus.
  4. Executive Coaching and Feedback: Take advantage of personalized executive coaching and receive comprehensive feedback through a 360 multi-rater feedback process and/or the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) Personal Impact Report to understand your leadership impact and areas for growth.
